User interface design samples
Working on a new feature or interface idea, I generate a lot of mockups and prototypes. Of course, it’s impossible to get an impression of what problem I was trying to solve, how I solved it, or how I made something easier to use, purely through static image byproducts. But, hopefully, these images communicate something about breadth and quality of the work I’ve done.
These projects span a wide range of time, and range from designing fundamental GUI look and feel, to “standard” 2D interfaces, to designing a node network interface, to defining the look and functionality for 3D animation and modeling.
In each project, I try to build on the knowledge users already have from using traditional 2D interfaces, such as the Mac, Windows, and the Web, and if that fails in a 3D context, then look for a visual or gestural metaphor to help the user relate the unfamiliar thing to something they know.
And, I always want to make something uncomplicated, elegant, and aesthetically pleasing, so the user feels pride in the tool I helped make.
